THE NAKED TRUTH ABOUT SLEEPING

Can’t sleep? Struggling with insomnia? Waking up in the middle of the night?

It might be time to ditch the Pajamas and boxer shorts people! Sleeping naked has now been proven as one of the healthiest way to get a great night’s sleep. Here are the 4 top reasons why scientist says you should start embracing the buff.

1. Your skin can breathe

Sleeping naked creates air ventilation for you whole body. Too much warmth at night due to thick sleep-wear can promote sweating, increasing your risk of bacterial infections. Eww.

2. Stress levels are reduced

There is nothing more liberating than stripping off tight, restrictive clothing. Bare skin actually creates a sense of relaxation for the body helping you fall asleep faster. As our bodies cool down our cortisol levels (stress hormone) are also reduced, relieving any feelings of tension or anxiety when we wake.

3. It keeps you looking young

Sleeping nekkid enables us to regulate our body temperature which is important for the release of our anti-aging and sleep quality hormone, melatonin. It also allows our skin’s sebaceous glands to do their best work, which is producing sebum to keep our skin and hair moisturised.

4. Increases your metabolism

According to scientists, just one night of sleep deprivation can lead to weight gain. It slows down the body’s metabolism the next morning – meaning less energy, in the form of calories, is burnt off. A great night’s sleep will lower your hunger-related hormones so you don’t rush desperately for that muffin & coffee combo on the way to work.
