My natural skincare routine
From left to right: Cleanser, toner, SPF, moisturizer, face mask, lipbalm.
A few people have been asking me about my skincare routine so I thought I would share with you the products I am currently using. In fact, a lot of what I use is homemade and a third of the price I used to pay at high-end stores. I try to go as chemical free and natural as possible. I’ve suffered from skin issues like redness, dryness and breakouts (with pigmentation) in the past but this regime has been really amazing at clearing everything up for me.
Cleanser: An oil based cleanser I actually make myself with a 50/50 ratio of Grape seed oil and sweet almond oil. Grape seed oil is astringent so helps remove makeup and dirt while the almond oil is super hydrating. Sometimes I’ll also add 2-3 drops of essential oil like Lavender or orange to make it smell nice. I just massage the oil into my skin for a few minutes lifting off my makeup and then I’ll use a microfiber cloth with warm water to wash off. This is where I purchase the Almond Oil and Grapeseed Oil. Toner: A 50/50 ratio of Braggs Apple cider vinegar and water. Warning: this stinks! But is totally worth it and the smell doesn’t last long. Apple cider vinegar balances the pH of your skin so it’s great for treating acne, redness and irritation. I just pour a little bit on a cotton pad and wipe over my face.
Moisturiser: A few drops of pure Sweet almond oil, super hydrating and keeps the skin supple and soft. I just massage this into my skin in a circular motion. Massaging the skin is great to boost blood circulation and promote healing of the skin.
SPF: Living in Singapore I’m exposed to the sun a lot so I always use an SPF during the day before I apply my makeup. This one is a dermatologically approved one from MD Dermatics with Zinc. Very light and non greasy.
Lip balm: Loving these Organic EOS lip balms. They last forever and don’t leave you with annoying sticky finish. Check out evolutionofsmooth.com for the entire range.
Face mask: Once a week I’ll do a face mask to treat my skin. I got this Antipodes Manuka Honey Mask from my sister this Christmas and I can’t recommend it enough. Manuka honey is an antibacterial so great for treating blemishes. Sometimes I’ll even use this as an overnight mask and wash it off in the morning. My skin always looks dewy and plump the next day.
