Amazing health benefits of cinnamon

Cinnamon is probably my all time fav spice. I try and get it in at least one of my meals every day, not just because it tastes so good but because it has some incredible medicinal benefits. The ground bark of cinnamon has been proven to improve gastrointestinal issues, ease menstrual cramps, stimulate blood flow and ward off colds and infections.

Here are 4 easy ways to get more cinnamon love into your life!

1. Add it to your morning tea

I love adding cinnamon to my morning tea to kick-start my metabolism and get my blood circulation going. Cinnamon works great with teas such as Earl Grey, English Breakfast and even Green Tea. Just put 1/2 tsp. in the cup before you pour in the water. You can even add a teaspoon of raw organic honey to add some sweetness.

2. Sprinkle it on roasted potatoes

You can use either sweet potato or normal potato for this recipe. I usually just chop the potatoes up into small cubes, pour on some coconut oil and sprinkle cinnamon and salt on top. Roast for 20 mins in the oven and you have a deliciously healthy side dish.

3. Mixed into your breakfast oats

Cinnamon, raw honey and almond milk on gluten free oats is one of my favorite things to eat for breakfast. It’s warming, hearty and so delicious. It is also low glycemic so wont spike your blood sugar level keeping you full for longer. Check out one of my favorite recipes here

4. Blend in your smoothies A banana, cinnamon and almond milk smoothie is such a great way to start the day. In fact cinnamon can be added to almost any smoothie recipe you like. Check out my FREE Juice & Smoothie eBook for some smoothie inspiration on my homepage www.calmawellness.com
