    LAY BACK & DETOX

    January 17, 2014

The other day my friend was telling me about an amazing DIY Green Tea Bath Detox she did.  The benefits included infusing your skin with essential nutrients while eliminating the body of toxins. All while just laying there? I was sold.

Being the bath lover that I am (my bathroom is literally a shrine of oils, fizz bombs, candles and body brushes) I went home that night and bought all the ingredients for my bath extravaganza. Epsom salts, baking soda, essential oil and green tea bags.

After a bit of ‘Detox bath’ Googling, I found out that they are only great for relaxing the body and mind but they also nourish and tone the skin while fighting signs of aging and fatigue in the body. Green tea also contains large amounts of antioxidants and vitamins such as; polyphenols, theanine and B vitamins (mood enhancers) and help to sooth sore muscles, open wounds and rashes.

    My experience?

Amaaaaazing. After I got out I literally felt like I had just had a full body massage. The magnesium from the Epsom salts gets deep into your muscles to relax them and I had one of the best nights sleep in my life. I also noticed the next day that a few small cuts on my arm seem to be healing faster.

I highly recommend this treatment for anyone who is wanting a quick and relaxing way to gently detox their body. All it takes is 5 minutes of prep for an hour of relaxation. Here is how you can do it yourself at home.

    INGREDIENTS:

    1. ½ cup Epsom salts

The magnesium in the salt relaxes muscles

while increasing the body’s ability to detoxify.

    1. ½ cup Baking Soda

Neutralizes any chemicals in the tap water

and makes the skin baby smooth.

    1. Green tea essential/fragrance oil

This has a therapeutic, calming affect.

Incredible. I used this one Body Shop Green Tea & Lemon

    1. 3 Green Tea bags

    jam packed with antioxidant properties

help heal skin and relax muscles

    TIPS:

    • Make sure the water temperature is hot(this helps your body sweat out the toxins)

    • Stay in the tub for 30 mins to get the full detoxifying effect

    • Drink plenty of water or coconut water after you get out to rehydrate yourself
